大沥位于南海区中部，地处广州和佛山两市之间，总面积79.36平方公里， 2002年末常住人口11.41万人，辖1个城区管理处和19个村委会。     Located to the northeast of Taicang Municipality, on the east bank of the Yangtze River, right opposite Chongming Island and Wusong Mouth, adjacent to State Road 204 and Yanjiang Highway to the west, bordering Changshu Municipality to the north, with Hufuhuang Road and several streams and branches of the Yangtze River running through it which renders communication and transportation by land and water extraordinarily convenient, Fuqiao Town, covering a total area of 144 square km and with its population amounting to 76.5 thousand people in 52 administrative villages, is the centre of Taicang Port authorized and designated by State Environmental Protection Administration of China as the zone specialized in the recycling and processing of imported scrap resources.
